Royal Gramma Basslets, also known as fairy basslets, are beautifully colored reef aquarium fish - half of their body is bright purple and fades into a bright yellow. They have a small black spot on their dorsal fin and a black line that crosses across their eye. They are highly sought-after for reef aquariums given their small adult size (grows up to 3 inches) and playful personalities. Royal Gramma Basslets are peaceful fish so can reside with seahorses and corals. They need places to hide as they prefer to reside in rock crevices or caves, then will dart out when protecting their territory. When threatened, they will open their mouth wide, gaping to scare off intruders.
They are hardy fish easily eating either frozen meaty or flake foods. They should be kept in small numbers of one or two fish to avoid becoming aggressive with other Royal Grammas.
