Description

Galaxea, or “Galaxy” corals are an out-of-this-world genus from the Oculinidae family. Its genus name comes from the Greek word Galaxaios meaning milky and describing its polyps milky white tips. Their bright green base, shining white tips and flowing tentacles give these corals a sparkling crystal-like appearance. But don’t let these delicate and shimmery corals fool you, they are aggressive! At night their tentacles can extend several inches and cause damage to surrounding corals.  Giving this coral adequate space and a low water flow will help minimize their tentacles reach and help these unique corals thrive.

ORA’s aquacultured Metallic Green Galaxea is a vivid green coral that grows rapidly and typically in a mound shape. This Galaxea is normally less aggressive than other strains but still has the capability to sting nearby corals with its sweeper tentacles. These are beautiful and mesmerizing corals!
