Mushrooms corals or disc anemones are commonly seen in reef aquariums as they are hardy, easy to grow, require low light and multiply quickly.

Mushroom corals, or Corallimorpharians, are corals in the scientific phylum Cnidaria, class Anthozoa.  They are closely related to Scleractinia, or stony corals, but are lacking an external or internal skeleton. Rather, they are shaped like a mushroom with a narrow stalk and wide disc or cap.

Mushrooms occur in a broad range of textures and colors including red, green, pink or purple - some have a pinstripe pattern.  They can occur in colonies or appear solitary.
